Agios Ioannis

View from the road

Agios Ioannis is a seaside resort below the mountainous village of Agios Dimitrios, on the east coast of Pelion. Originally a beach, it has developed as resort with plenty of hotels, rooms to rent, tavernas and cafes.

Everything in Agios Ioannis is concentrated by the sea. The beach strip is over 500 meters long as it is narrow along the promenade and gets wider in the north end near the harbor. This part of the beach is organized with sunbeds and parasols to rent in the summer, and some of the sunbeds belong to the coastal hotels. The sand is a bit coarse, with pebbles around the shore and transparent blue sea. The sea is not very shallow around the shore and not suitable for kids in windy weather. Next to the harbor you will find a small path which can take you to the neighbor beach of Plaka, north of Agios Ioannis.

Another beach which is very close to Agios Ioannis is Papa Nero. It lies next to the south part of the village and both are linked via a small pedestrian bridge by the sea. The famous Damouchari and the traditional village of Mouresi are also nearby and connected to Agios Ioannis via a coastal road.
