Agios Georgios-Argyrades
This resort of Agios Georgios (called by the locals Agios Georgios-Argyrades) is located on the southwest coast of Corfu, in contrast to the other Agios Georgios (Agios Georgios-Pagi), which is in the northwest. The names of both places are duplicated and often confused, so be careful with them.
Agios Georgios-Argyrades is a peaceful place but has everything necessary for an enjoyable holiday. Visitors have choice of accommodation, restaurants, cafes and bars.
The resort is best known for the wide beach that runs alongside. It is 10 km long without interruption, with soft golden sand and you can always find secluded spots. A few kilometers north of Agios Georgios are the ruins of the fortress of Gardiki and the salt lake Korision. The lake is actually a lagoon but it is separated from the sea by a strip of sand and looks like a lake. The beaches around in the area are unique with their natural sand dunes - Chalikounas and Issos. The natural extension of Agios Georgios beach is called Issos to the north and Marathia (Santa Barbara) to the south.
At the beach of Agios Georgios various water sports and beach bars are available, as well as organized boat trips to the area and the island of Paxos.
