Chalikounas

Chalikounas (or Halikounas) is the beach strip which divides lake Korission from the sea. Actually, there are two beaches between the lake and the sea - Chalikounas and Issos but they are not one and the same place. Issos is to the south end of the lake and Chalikounas is to the north.

Chalikounas is long and sandy, with shallow water and no sea urchins. It is popular among wind surfers and kite surfers because of the winds which often blow in this part of the island.
