Peleta

Old houses in the village

Peleta is a small mountainous village in Arcadia Region, Peloponnese. Away from the sea, it is not tourist oriented but the road from Leonidio to south Peloponnese passes through the village and it is not so isolated.

The houses of Peleta are old and mainly made of stone. In the center, the road passes by a small square with a church, one taverna and a cafeteria. Locals live here all years round but there are no hotels. Yet holiday homes and rooms to rent in private houses can be found in the area, especially towards the sea. The closest beach to Peleta is that of Poulithra which is 13 km away but the road is winding with many curves and driving takes about 30 minutes. The formerly unknown beach of Fokiano is 17 km away from Peleta - it is а large pebbly beach with seaside taverna. The road to Fokiano was unpaved in the past and few tourists reached it by car but now a good narrow paved road connects it with the rest of the world.

The area around Peleta is good for hiking, cycling and resting in almost untouched nature, and in general it is more suitable for a mountain holiday. Numerous hiking trails traverse this part of Peloponnese and you can enjoy superb sea view from some of them, especially along the rocky coastline between Poulithra and Fokiano.
