Costa Navarino means "the coast of Navarino". But this is not the name of a beach or seaside area, as many believe. Costa Navarino is the dream come true of the Greek sea captain and entrepreneur Vassilis Constantakopoulos. Born and raised in a small village of Messinia, Peloponnese, he spent many years as a sailor and in 1974 established his own ship company which later turned out to be one of the world’s largest container shipping operators. During the years away, he never forgot his homeland and wanted to find a way to promote the depressed region and help people see the wild beauty of southwest Peloponnese.
So, captain Vassilis chose a place near the semi-ruined Navarino castle and developed a project for the construction of luxury hotel resorts and the first signature golf course in Greece. Over the years Costa Navarino has become a synonym of outstanding hospitality, world-class golf experience and unforgettable stay. Today, the project has been developed into a few distinct seaside settings:
- Navarino Dunes, the original location, which is home to two golf courses, privately owned villas and two five-star hotels: The Westin Resort, Costa Navarino and The Romanos, a Luxury Hotel Collection
- Navarino Bay, ultra-modern earth-sheltered hotel with pool villas and clubhouse (to be completed in 2021)
- Navarino Waterfront, chic design resort with beachfront houses (to be completed in 2021)
- Navarino Hills, a year-round resort with golf courses and clubhouse (to be completed in 2022)
- Navarino Blue, three thematic resorts on a 1 km long sandy beach (under development)

Navarino Bay is located in close proximity to the nature reserve of the Gialova lagoon, the old Navarino castle and Voidokillia beach.
This project is supposed to be completed in 2021. It is described as "the vibrant lifestyle of Navarino", distinguished for its posh design and the Agora: a center with boutique retail shops, street food, entertainment options and nightlife. The hotel structure includes lagoon pools, rooms, suites and beachfront bungalows.
The historical legacy of the area
No matters guests can easily spend their holiday inside the borders of the resorts, there are plenty of things to do in southwest Peloponnese. The name Navarino is not accidental - it is the ancient name of the nearby coastal town of Pylos, inhabited since Neolithic ages. Some of the significant historical sites to be visited are the Palace of Nestor, the castle of Pylos, the old Navarino castle above the famous Voidokillia beach, the fortresses of Methoni and Koroni knows as "the eyes of the Republic" during the Venetian rule, the Mycenaeаn tombs, etc.
Costa Navarino is most known as golf destination but you don`t really need to be a golfer to visit the resorts - they are excellent choice to pamper yourself. The place offers plenty of activities for everyone like tennis, cooking lessons, water sports, scuba diving, yachting, rock climbing and mountain biking.
