Milos

The beach seen from the footpath

Milos is a large beach on the northwest coast of Lefkada island, between Agios Nikitas and Kathisma. It is accessible only on foot or by a short boat ride from Agios Nikitas (EUR 3 per person by 2022). Like the rest west beaches on the island, it has specific blue color of the sea and the coarse sand is mixed with small and gentle white pebbles.

The option with the boat taxi is much more easier but walking via the footpath would award you with the spectacular view of the beach above, something that cannot be felt from the boat. The path starts behind a tavern in the pedestrian zone of Agios Nikitas. The village is very small so it will not be difficult to find the spot. The path first climbs steeply on a hill above the village and its small beach, and as soon as you reach the top it starts sloping down toward Milos, revealing the beach in all of its glory.

There is lots of free space at Milos, as well as sunbeds and parasols to rent, but there is no taverna or cantina so you need to bring water and food. The walk can be tiresome in the hottest time of the day and not suitable for small kids. The beach is usually exposed to strong winds, something normal for the west coast of Lefkada, and the sea is rough and deep around the shore.

Above Milos there are some exclusive villas with private pools to rent and from them there are also paths leading down to the beach.
