Venetian Castle of Skopelos

Stairs leading to the Kastro ruins

The Venetian castle (better known as Kastro) is located in Skopelos Chora, at the top of the Old Town. It was built by the Venetians in 13 century, over the wall of the ancient town of Peparethos which once existed on the island.

Today there is not much left from the castle, except for part of the wall. In the summer tho tavernas operate next to the wall and they are known for the live rebetiko music.
