Gialos
The beach of Gialos (also called Ormos) is located next to the main port of Ios island. It is also considered part of the main village, Ios Chora, but since there are only seasonal hotels around it, Gialos is populated only in the summer.
The beach is long and narrow, with sand and shallow water. In windy days the bay of the port is most protected and there are no waves, for this reason many visitors with small kids prefer it. A street separate Gialos from the hotels and tavernas at the back, but it goes to less popular beaches and it is not very busy. In the summer part of the beach is occupied by the sunbeds and parasols of hotels, the rest half is free and has a line of trees for natural shade.
