Ammoglossa

Aerial view

Ammoglossa, meaning "sand tongue", is a small sandspit at the end of Kastro beach which is extension of Gyra beach. It is just opposite the walls of Agia Mavra castle and located at the entrance of the island, near the bridge that connects it with mainland. Like Gyra and Kastro, Ammoglossa is calm and wind-free most of the time. It is covered with coarse sand and small pebbles. The beach is not organized and there are no beach facilities available. Due to its small size, it gets crowded sometimes.
