Agios Arsenios

Agios Arsenios is one of the least known villages of Naxos and somewhat neglected compared to Apeiranthos and Chalkio. It is located 4 km away from the seaside, close to the resorts of Agia Anna and Plaka. The village is off the main road which starts from the seaside and goes to the inner part of the island, so it is not on tourists way.

Agios Arsenios is an old settlement with authentic spirit. It is in the traditional white and blue style of the Cyclades, with a few churches and many narrow alleys between the houses (drivers, be careful with these alleys because some of them hardly allow a car to pass between two buildings). The best way to explore Agios Arsenios in on foot and if you are with a car, you`d better leave it at the village entrance next to the big church of Agios Arsenios - there is a parking lot. This part of the village is called "Kato Chorio", meaning "lower village", because it lies in a valley. Pano Chorio, or Upper Village is built on the hill above the valley and the alleys there are not only narrow but steep as well.

In Agios Arsenios there is only one restaurant and a few villas around it, promising peaceful stay yet close to the best beaches of Naxos.
