Orkos

Orkos is is located between Plaka and Mikri Vigla. Actually, it is an area which includes the south end of Plaka beach and a series of a few small sandy coves along the road. This part of Naxos is characterized by natural beauty and tranquility, being between two famous resorts and yet not organized with sunbeds by beach bars.

Orkos can be accessed both via the coastal road of Plaka and via a road which comes from the inner part of Naxos. There are hotels around but they are not too close to the beach and the road separates them from the sea. The little coves are not secret for the tourists, as you clearly see them from the road to Mikri Vigla so you may not be entirely alone but in most cases there will be few to none people at the same time. The soft sand and the blue color of the water are extremely alluring, and the coves have formed between peculiar rock formations protruding into the sea. From Orkos you can watch the north bay of Mikri Vigla with the kitesurfers.
