The Catacombs of Milos
The Catacombs of Milos is a complex of early Christian subterranean tombs. They involve the whole hill between Trypiti and Klima, as only part of them is organized as a gallery which tourists can visit.
The complex is a group of halls and corridors carved in soft volcanic rock. Except for the separate tombs, there is also one family burial chamber. Some of the tombs have painted decorations or parts of inscriptions. Almost no jewellery was found because the tombs had been already robbed when the first excavations began in 1844.
You can reach the site via a road from Trypiti. The visitors enter the tombs in small groups and there is a small entrance fee. You will receive information, map and audio narration while in the complex.
