Messongi

The beach

Messongi (Messonghi) is a beach on the east coast of Corfu, 23 km from the capital of the island. It is next to Moraitika but both are separated by a river which flows into the sea and divides the beach strip into two parts, as the south part is called Messongi and the north part - Moraitika.

Messongi has developed as a small resort with hotels, guesthouses, tavernas and beach bars. In contrast to Moraitika, where all shops and services are along the main road, in Messongi everything is around the beach - one bakery, one super market and a small shop for souvenirs, and overall the resort is calmer.

The beach of Messongi is narrow but long, with calm water and gradually sloping seafloor. It is covered with coarse sand and pebbles, especially around the shore. There are a few beach tavernas with sunbeds and parasols, water sports, center for diving lessons and organized boat trips. A coastal road connects Messongi with the tranquil beach of Boukari where you can find fish taverns.
