Marathopoli

Village church

Marathopoli is a small fishing village on the west coast of Peloponnese, close to Navarino bay. The place is known for its fish tavernas where you can eat fresh fish and sea food.

There is no beach in the village but in the area there are many sandy beaches which you can choose from, including one on Proti island which is just in front of Marathopoli. Proti is also suitable for snorkeling and boat trips during which you can swim in one of its secluded small coves. The closest beaches to Marathopoli are Lagouvardos to the north (4 km), and Vromoneri and Golden beach to the south, at a distance of 7 and 8 km, respectively.
