Kottes

The little fishing harbor

For sure Kottes is one of the remotest and least known places on Pelion and namely this is the reason to be included in your to-visit list - because it is a scenic little harbor, because it has a few gorgeous fish tavernas and because in order to reach it, you should travel to the southernmost part of the peninsula, driving along the coast and passing by a landscape entirely different from the north and central area.

Kottes lies on the coast facing the Pagasitikos gulf, where the "hook" ends (the shape of Pelion resembles a hook) and 6 km away from the village of Trikeri. Out of season you will hardly meet any people although there are a few houses and villas with a limited number of rooms to rent. In the summer however locals and some curious tourists are attracted by the fresh fish and seafood caught by the fishermen and served in the tavernas. The village is really small, with a pier for the fishing boats and a miniature strip of pebbles and transparent water. After the last houses the road turns into path among olive groves and if you keep on walking, you will end up on some of the wildest beaches of Pelion.
