Arkitsa

Arkitsa

Arkitsa is small village by the sea in Central Greece. Near the village passes the highway from Athens to Larissa and Thessaloniki. Narrow beach covers the whole seafront of Arkitsa. During the season the beach is organized and there are sunbeds and umbrellas. Next to the beach are lined many tavernas, cafes, villas and holiday houses for rent. Many Athenians and foreign tourists come to Arkitsa to enjoy quiet and relaxing holiday. Nearby are Kamena Vourla, Agios Konstantinos and Thermopili is just 40 km away.

Arkitsa is one of the entry points to Evia island and it serves the ferry route to Loutra Edipsou. Loutra Edipsou is a spa center village and is famous for its hot mineral springs and spa hotels. The ferry from Arkitsa is preferred way to reach that part of Evia because the island is mountainous with slow and curvy roads.
During the day the ferry runs on regular intervals and is very frequent during the summer months. Tickets are sold at the port and cost around 4 euro for adult and around 17 euro for medium sized car. It takes 30 minutes or less to travel from the island to the mainland or back.
