Samonas

Samonas is one of the mountainous villages of Apokoronas area. It is very small, with a dozen of houses and a church. A few old houses are now functioning as villas, providing peaceful accommodation among the nature. Samonas is surrounded by similar mountainous villages which can be visited by road or by hiking trails, like Chiliomoudou, Ramni, Macheri and Neo Chorio. Near Chiliomoudou you can visit the old Byzantine church of Agios Nikolaos and the cave church of Agios Mamas.

No facilities for tourists are available in Samonas, except for one unpretentious taverna. The closest restaurants and basic shops can be found in Stilos and Neo Chorio.
