Pyrgos

Panormos village

Pyrgos (sometimes called Panormos) is a very picturesque village. It is the second largest settlement of the island, located 3 km away from the sea and Ormos Panormou.

A walk in Pyrgos is like walking in an open air museum. It is known as the ”marble” village of Tinos because marble is literally everywhere - in alleys, buildings, fountains and decorations. The village has centuries-old traditions in marble extraction and export, and today there are marble workshops where local artisans sell their creations.

Like a typical Cycladic village, Pyrgos has a car-free center. The marble alleys lead to a square with a big plane tree in the middle, a few cafes and tavernas and an old marble fountain.
