Kato Daratso (meaning Lower Daratso) is the seaside area of the inland Daratso village. It is just west of Chania Town and less than 4 km from its center.

Kato Daratso comprises of the two settlements of Agii Apostoli and Makris Tichos which have merged since many hotels and apartments to rent have been built in the area. There are two long beaches - Glaros to the west and Chrisi Akti to the east, and two smaller but wider beaches between them - Iguana and Notis. They are all set in coves, sandy and organized with sunbeds and parasols. Iguana and Glaros are very shallow around the shore, preferred by families with kids, and Iguana is usually protected from winds and sheltered. The hotels are numerous and of all categories, and there is also a camping between Notis and Chrissi Akti beach. The tavernas, fast food and big super markets are more than enough. There is also a gas station, ATM and rent-a-car service.
