Kato Galatas

Small church at the seafront

Kato Galatas is the seaside area of the inland village of Galatas, as both are separated by the main island road Chania-Kissamos. It is between Kato Stalos and Agii Apostoli (the latter now part of Kato Daratso).

Kato Galatas is a resort settlement with hotels, studios and apartments to rent, as well as some restaurants and small shops. It has actually merged with Agii Apostoli and you can not tell one from each other. The beach of Kato Galatas is part of Glaros beach, at its westernmost part known as Kalamaki. Kalamaki is sandy and shallow but because if its small size it is covered all over by sunbeds and umbrellas to rent in the summer. Nevertheless, space can always be found on Glaros or any of the other beaches nearby like Iguana, Notis or Chrissi Akti.
