Emporio is an inland village of Santorini. It is located in the south part of the island, close to the long black beaches of Perissa, Perivolos and Agios Georgios.
Emporio is an old village and has a traditional area with preserved architecture, narrow alleys, white churches and a medieval castle (kastro). Take some time to spend for a walk here and you can see how the island looked like many years ago, before modern construction. The permanent inhabitants are over 3 000 persons so this is the largest settlement of Santorini and the cafes, restaurants, bakeries and shops work all year round. The beach of Vlychada is also close to Emporio, 3-4 km away from the village center.
