Agios Lavrentios

Private residence in the village

Agios Lavrentios (pronounced as Agios Lavrendios) is a mountainous village in Northwest Pelion. It is away from the main road, accessible via narrow paved road which starts near the village of Ano Lechonia.

The village is named after the beautiful old monastery of Agios Lavrentios, built on the highest point above the houses. Like the rest mountainous settlements in the area, this one also has a small plateia (square) with high thick trees for extra shadows in the hot summer days. There are a few tavernas with tables under the trees and a church with clock-tower. The houses of the village are made of stone, in the traditional architecture, and the alleys between them are narrow and cobbled. For the past few years the village has gained reputation as the "music village of Pelion" as every July or August an international music festival takes place there.

You can also reach Agios Lavrentios via a hiking trail from the nearby village of Agios Vlasios.
