Gialiskari

Rocks versus sand at Gialiskari

Gialiskari is one of the less known and visited beaches on the west coast of Corfu island. It lies below the large sandy beach of Pelekas (Kontogialos) and is reachable via a narrow paved road. Once you go down to Kontogialos, you should look for the signs of Gialiskari and in less than 1 km you will be there.

The beach is small and its left half dramatically contrasts to the right half - large rocks versus soft sand. The sandy part of the beach is occupied by the sunbed and parasols offered by the only beach taverna there which bears the same name - Gialiskari. The taverna is visited even in the evenings because of the fresh fish and seafood it serves. The sea is shallow around the shore and the sea bottom is sandy as well, no matter the rocks scattered around the beach. The whole area is covered by thick green trees and there are no buildings except for a small complex with studios to rent above the beach.
