Monastery of Agios Nikolaos
Situated in the middle of Vistonida Lake and Nestos National Park, this spectacular monastery and its church can be reached through wooden bridges. It belongs to the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi (Mount Athos). The lake is home to many interesting birds, crabs and fishes and you can enjoy them from the bridge or from the well maintained monastery garden.
The monastery is visited by many people and parking lot is provided. The closest village is the port of Porto Lagos and the village of Fanari (Rhodopi Region).
The monastery works every day but from Monday to Friday it is closed from 14:00 to 16:30.
