Platanes

Platanes is the largest the three beaches of Skala Marion. They also call it Sunset beach, after the name of a beach bar operating there and because of the beautiful sunset you can see from this place. Platanes is different from Platana, which is another beach on the north coast of Thassos near Skala Rachoni.

Platanes is the northernmost beach of the village, next to the fishing boat pier. It is sandy, with smooth tiny pebbles around the shore. In the past few years Platanes has gained more popularity for the small water park offering fun for kids and adults. There is enough place for both the sunbeds of the beach bar and for those who want to use their own parasols. There are only a few villas behind it but since Skala Marios is still developing, there may be new constructions soon.
