Laganas

Laganas is known as the party place of Zakynthos. This is the biggest and liveliest resort of the island, with rich nightlife, and the visitors are mainly young people. So, if you are a couple seeking tranquility or a family with small children, this is not your place. If you intend to combine the beach atmosphere during the day with visiting one of the 100 bars of the resort in the night, Laganas is definitely for you.

The beach strip in the bay of Laganas is the longest beach on Zakynthos, about 9 km long sandy strip. Part of the beach belongs to the National Marine park of the island because in July and August the famous turtles Caretta Caretta come here to bury their eggs. That is why water sports are restricted in the area and in some places you can see fenced areas protecting the turtles eggs. The organized boat trips may give you the opportunity to meet swimming turtles in the sea.

There are many hotels in resort, scattered along the beach or in quieter spots away from the noisy center. Laganas is full of various shops (even special alcohol shops), fast food, tavernas and restaurants offering Greek and international cuisine.
