Inside the church

The church of Agia Sofia is one of the 15 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Thessaloniki. It is a large Byzantine church built in 7th century, and its architecture followed the model of the church of Agia Sophia in Constantinople (nowadays Instanbul).

The church is located in the center of Thessaloniki, close to many of the historical sites of the city. It hosts the relics of Saint Basil the Confessor, archbishop of Thessaloniki.
