3 cool beach bars in Mount Athos

It is hard to imagine there are any bars on Mount Athos at all, right? Probably you link the name of this place with the autonomous monastic republic, the grandiose monasteries and the territory which only men are allowed to visit after a special permit. But this is not what we mean. The Holy Mountain occupies almost the entire area of Mount Athos but there is a small part of land at the entrance of the finger which belongs to this world and therefore it has no restrictions on anything. A few villages and some wonderful beaches are at your disposal there, provided you are not expecting late night parties or entertainment options (you can find such on Kassandra and Sithonia). The beach bars we will introduce you to are out of the villages but they manage some of the best beaches Mount Athos can offer.

Voulitsa Beach Bar

Located on the homonymous beach, Voulitsa accepts visitors every summer. The beach is between Nea Roda and Komitsa, reachable via dirt coastal road. You can use the sunbeds and all facilities if you order something from the beach bar. Along with drinks, there are also light snacks, fruit salads and grilled meat (the latter only during weekends). Voulitsa beach is a small sandy cove between two rocks and there are no other beach bars except for this one.

Legend Beach Bar

The beach bar in July

The ex name of the bеаch bar managing the beach was Wet Drеams and the place is still known under this nаme, although the bar changed its name to Legend. Currently Legend Beach and Pool Bar is managing Wet Dreams beach in the summer. The bеach аnd the pool are sеparаted by a narrow сoаstal rоad with а few high palm trеes. Sunbeds, parаsols, bеach vоlley, сhanging cаbins and shοwers are provided fоr the customers, аnd the back side of the bar functions аs winery as well. The beаch is shallow around the shοrе, with trаnsparent water, and it is very close to Nea Roda.

Drenia Island Beach Bar

Definitely this is one of the most exotic beach bars you can visit in Greece, located on the tiny uninhabited Drenia islet just next to Ammouliani. A whole islet with magnificent soft sand, shallow blue sea and a beach bar which saves its clients from bringing parasols. It belongs to a cluster of six islets just off Ammouliani, known as Drenia islands or Gaidouronisia. The largest of them, Drenia and Penna, are pure beach bliss accessible by boat from Ammouliani or Ouranoupoli. Drenia beach bar offers not only drinks, but a fish taverna as well so you can enjoy a full day on this beach with no worries about food.
