Vizitsa

Taverna tables at the plateia

The mountainous village of Vizitsa lies approximately 30 km away from Volos, in west Pelion. It is protected by the government for its traditional architecture which is typical for the area and the other villages around it - Milies and Pinakates.

Although it is more like a winter destination, Vizitsa has tourists in the summer as well because it is close to the seaside and to the popular resort of Kala Nera (12 km). On the main road in the middle of the village there are parking spaces - leave you car there and follow the signs to the village plateia as you walk on the cobbled alleys between the houses. On the plateia (square) there is a fresh water fountain and a few tavernas under the shade of thick trees. Most of the hotels here are renovated old mansions.

Milies and Pinakates are very close to Vizitsa (2 km each) and you can literally walk to them on the main road or via a hiking trail. Hiking trails going down to the sea or to the top of the mountain are also present.
