Vasiliki

Vasiliki

Vasiliki is one of the most famous villages of the island, located in a bay in the southernmost part of Lefkada. It is also the port which connects Lefkada with Fiscardo, Kefalonia and there are boat taxis to the nearby beach of Agiofili.

Vasiliki is a very popular place among windsurfers due to the afternoon hot wind, called Eric, which appears in the bay in the summer. There are a few windsurf schools which provide lessons by professionals, and other water sports are available, too. Interesting fact is that despite the wind, there are no big waves in the sea and the seabed is relatively shallow around the shore.

The old part of the village is built around the port and has a nice seafront with tavernas, cafe and bakeries. There is also a health center on the main road. The beach of Vasiliki is about 1.5 km long. Most of it is covered with pebbles but there are also sections with coarse sand. The new part of Vasiliki is called Ponti and sometimes it is referred to as a separate settlement but the two places are merged. Ponti consists mainly of hotels and studios to rent, as well as a few beach bars.

Near Vasiliki you can visit the long Egremni beach, as well as Porto Katsiki - the world-famous beach of Lefkada.
