Valtaki

Valtaki

Valtaki beach is located 5 km north of Gythio, right next to Selinitsa beach. You will recognize Valtaki by the shipwreck next to the shore, it is also visible from the road.

The shipwreck is called Dimitrios and it has been on the beach since 1981. There are many versions about how it got there. Some sources claim that it was smuggling cigarettes and it was set on fire to hide the evidences, others say that it strangely disappeared from Gythio port to be found burned down on Valtaki. Anyway, the ship is still there and just a few meters from the shore, easy to explore and make extraordinary beach photos.

The beach of Valtaki is long and narrow. It is not organized and no facilities are available there compared to the neighbor Selinitsa beach which is Blue Flag awarded and has beach bars.
