Sykia

Sykia

Sykia is the largest and oldest settlement of Sithonia, located inland (about 3 km from the sea). The population amounts to 3 000 residents. It is a nice place for walk in the evenings or when the weather is not so good for swimming.

The village has preserved some of its old houses and some of the new ones are restored to their original outlook. Around the small center where some the cafes and shops are spread, a number of small streets lead to the old church which is also worth visiting. The old school is built at the highest point of the village and is one of the symbols of Sykia, with architecture dating back to 19th century.

The seaside of Sykia is known as Paralia Sykia and includes a series of beaches in coves, with guest houses and villas.
