Sykia is the largest and oldest settlement on
Sithonia, located inland (about 3 km from the sea). The population amounts to 3 000 residents. It is a nice place for walk in the evenings or when the weather is not so good for swimming.
The village has preserved some of its old houses and some of the new ones are restored to their original outlook. After the small center, where some the cafes and shops are spread, a number of small streets lead to the old church which is also worth visiting. The old school building is built on the highest point of the village and it is one of the symbols of Sykia, with architecture dating back to 19th century.
The seaside of Sykia is known as
Paralia Sykia and includes a series of beaches set in coves, along which guest houses and villas are built. There you will also find good taverns.
