Stageira

Stageira is a mountainous village in Halkidiki, successor of the ancient city of Stageira, known as the birthplace of Aristotle.

In the past the village was a large administrative center with its own coins but today its population is only 300 inhabitants. The most interesting place to visit nearby is the park of Aristotle, with magnificent views of the gulf of Ierissos and Mount Athos. In the park you can see the statue of Aristotle, telescopes (which in clear weather show some of the monasteries on Mount Athos) and other interesting instruments representing the ideas of Aristotle - solar clock, pentaphone, optical disks, water turbine, compass and others.
