Skidia

Blue water, rocks and sea cave

Skidia is rather a swimming spot than a beach. It is a miniature strip of sand, surrounded by rocks, with crystal clear blue water. The place is also known as Kekes, after the name of a complex with bungalows to rent. The seaside taverna Skidia is part of the complex and the only restaurant available in the area.

Skidia is located between Thimonia and Aliki. The main island road passes very close to the beach but you cannot see it through the high green trees. You should look for the signboard of Taverna Skidia and you will end up at a parking space under the shade of trees. The tables of the taverna are positioned on the rocks just by the sea, and from both sides there are two tiny rocky coves which you can use for swimming and snorkeling. Iron stairs are also available so you can go directly into the sea from the rocks where some people spread their towels.

The traditional Taverna Skidia serves not only fresh fish and sea food but also organic vegetables from their garden. The dishes are baked in a large stone oven and cooked after family recipes. It is a good place to visit even if you do not want to swim here.
