Skarkos Archeological Site

Skarkos Archeological Site

The ruins of the ancient settlement of Skarkos lie near the beach of Gialos, Ios island. The settlement dates back to the Early Bronze Age and occupies a small elevation.

Skarkos was built on terraces comprising the entire elevation, as some of the walls which have remained until today are up to 3 meters high. The site has entrance fee and works every day (8:00-15:30), except for Tuesdays and official holidays. You can also enjoy a nice aerial view of Skarkos from the small churches on the top of Chora, behind Panagia Gremniotissa.
