Seychelles

This is the most exotic beach of Ikaria. An interesting fact is that it appeared after digging up the tunnel close to Manganitis. The tunnel was dug in the 90s, in order to connect Manganitis with Agios Kirikos via the south coastal road. The explosions resulted in rock slide which revealed a small spot of pebbles and vivid blue color of the sea, surrounded by large pieces of rocks and cliffs. Namely the color of the water gave the name "Seychelles".

The beach is not hard to find but the route includes walking. Soon after you pass the tunnel leading to Manganitis, you will see place for parking on the right side of the road and inscription "Seychelles" on the road. Whatever vehicle you are with, you should leave it here. The beach is accessible via a steep path, with a length of approximately 300 meters. Be prepared with comfortable and closed shoes because the path has scattered stones and rocks on it, making it slippery. The path ends up above the beach from where you can glimpse the amazing color of the sea. After that you need to go down through the cliffs, it is not difficult in case you do not have walking disabilities. The beach strip has smooth white pebbles instead of sand, and in one of the cliffs there is a low cave which some people use it for shadow. Most of the pebbles are white and they glitter in the sun, making the beach look shiny.

If you are not keen on walking, you can visit the beach by boat from Manganitis. In the summer there are organized boat trips also from Agios Kirikos and Evdilos, and thus you can see the big sea cave which is just next to the Seychelles but not visible from the beach. The closest village is Manganitis, in 3-4 km, and there are no cafes or beach canteens around, so you should bring your own water and/or food.
