The beach of Santa Maria is on the northeast coast of the island, a few km away from Naoussa
. It lies in a curved bay, with view of the tiny islet of Filidi.
Santa Maria consists of two long sandy beaches, as the north one is larger and organized by beach bars, and the south one is smaller and less visited. The north beach attracts many people in the summer and sometimes it can get crowded, especially with the presence of a campsite in the area. Beach bars and tavernas offer sunbed, parasols and limited number of water sports like pedalos and canoes. Visitors are mainly young people but families with small kids also go there because the sand is fine and soft, and the water is very shallow around the shore. However, one should keep in mind that Santa Maria is usually windy.
