Pyrgadikia is a resort village 115 km away from Thessaloniki, not yet discovered by mass tourists. It belongs to
Sithonia but its actual location is in the bay between Sithonia and
Mount Athos.
Pyrgadikia is built on the slopes of a small peninsula and overlooks the sea, Mount Athos and Sithonia. Its permanent inhabitants are about 600 and there are a few small shops, cafes and bakery. The tavernas lined around the small harbor serve fresh fish and seafood and in the evenings attract people from
Ormos Panagias (20 km),
Akti Salonikiou (7 km) and the nearby area which has mainly private villas and complexes of apartments to rent.
Pyrgadikia has no own beach except for a small patch of sand at the harbor, but just out of the village you will find a few small blue coves with pebbles and transparent water. They are not organized and hardly visited but they are very suitable for swimming and isolation. 1 km north of Pyrgadikia lies the huge and empty
Kampos beach, and driving south towards Ormos Panagias you will find
Gialaki,
Kortiri and Akti Salonikiou, large beaches with some facilities and plenty of free space.
