Potos

Potos

Potos is a seaside resort in the south part of Thassos, close to Limenaria. In clear weather you can see in the distance the outlines of Mount Athos, Halkidiki.

In the past the place was just the port of the inland village of Theologos, and the permanent settlers appeared in the last few decades. Today Potos is one of the more famous resorts on the island and popular among younger people and families with small children. Among the fishermen of the island, it is known as the place on the island where most octopus and squid can be netted.

The village is small but lively and it offers everything needed for a holiday - taverns, beach bars and cafes, concentrated at the promenade. The narrow streets are full of small shops and local bakeries. There is a great range of accommodation options, from small complexes with self-catering apartments to boutique hotels.

The central beach of Potos is located right next to the promenade, covered with coarse sand and small pebbles. Almost all of it is occupied with sunbeds and umbrellas. A little further to the south is the larger beach of San Antonio which is predominantly sandy and mixed with tiny pebbles. Usually the sea is calm here but some sections quickly get deep.
