Porto Katsiki

Porto Katsiki

Porto Katsiki is the most famous beach of Lefkada. It is a narrow strip of sand located below high white cliffs and the water has a sparkling milky blue color (if this color exists at all, the water of Porto Katsiki fully depicts it).

The beach is sandy, mixed with shingle, and the water is deep around the shore so it is not the best place for small kids. Until noon the sand is somewhat shaded by the cliffs behind but in the afternoon you will need a parasol. Snacks and drinks are available in the beach cafe right above the beach which also sells swimming accessories.

Porto Katsiki lies on the southwest tip of the island, away from towns and villages but it is accessible by car. The closest populated village in the area is Athani, 12 km away. The road from Athani to Porto Katsiki is narrow, with many curves and at some place it hardly fits two cars side by side. The traffic is terrible in July and August and you may expect difficulties finding a place to park. There is a paid parking lot above the beach but its capacity is not enough during the high season so most cars park directly on the narrow road. If you do not have a car, you can visit the beach with some of the organized boat trips.
