Platanes

Platanes is the largest the three beaches of Skala Marion. Sometimes they call it Platana (but Platana is another beach on the north coast near Skala Rachoni) or Sunset beach, after the name of a beach bar operating there and because of the beautiful sunset you can see from this place.
Platanes is the northernmost beach of the village, next to the fishing boat pier. It is about 300 meters long and quite wide, enough both for the beach bars to place their sunbeds and for those who want to use their own parasols. Platanes is entirely sandy, at some places there are smooth tiny pebbles around the shore. This beach looks like an extension of the village and there are only a few villas behind it but since Skala Marion is still developing as a resort, there may be other constructions soon.
