Platana

Platana

Platana is a small beach in the area between Skala Rachoni and Skala Prinos. The beach got its name from the beach bar which operates there in the summer - Platana beach bar (or vice versa). This is definitely one of the most shallow beaches on the island, with sand and no rocks in the sea.

The distance between Platana and the main road is 500 meters, and it is filled with olive trees and scattered houses. Just above the beach there is a line of pine trees which cast extra shadow in the hot summer days. The beach bar offers sunbeds and parasols for its clients, as well as cold drinks and sandwiches. There are no buildings in close proximity and few people know about the place, so it is usually calm. The sand is very soft and the sea bottom is extremely shallow, as sometimes small sand spits are formed in the sea around the shore and children can safely play in the water.
