Paralia Vergas is a seaside village near Kalamata
. It is a holiday resort which has developed from the nearby villages of Ano Verga and Kato Verga and thus its name - Paralia Vergas means "the beach of Verga". The city of Kalamata is 4 km away and Paralia Vergas is sometimes called a district of Kalamata becuse there are so many buildings between the two settlements that they have merged.
Paralia Vergas has many hotels, rooms to rent and some restaurants. There is no central part or a square, though. All the buildings are along the main road which goes parallel to the sea. There are two beaches, one in the north and one in the south. The south beach is longer and known as Almyra (Paralia Almirou) after the name of a beach bar which operates there in the summer. Both beaches are pebbly. The north beach is not organized, sunbeds and parasols are to be found only on Almyra.
