Panagia

Entering the village

Panagia is an old village in the northeast part of Thassos, built on a slope of the mountain high above Golden beach. The main road of the island which connects the capital with all the rest settlements in Thassos passes through the center of the village. The seaside settlement of Skala Panagia (also known as Chrissi Ammoudia) is about 6 km away.

Panagia distinguishes for its old-style houses with stone tiles and wooden balconies, narrows streets and natural water springs which cross the entire village. At the small square there are some cafes and restaurants which attract visitors both in hot days and in the evenings. The olive oil museum is the main village attraction.
