Ormos Panagias (or Ormos Panagia) is the port of
Agios Nikolaos. In translation the name means `the bay of Virgin Mary` and was named after the church built there during the Byzantine rule and restored in 1970. The boat trips around
Mount Athos and the monasteries depart from Ormos Panagias.
The settlement is small and does not offer variety. At the harbor there are a few fish tavernas and is a fish market from which you can buy fresh seafood. Next to Ormos Panagias lies the large sandy beach of
Trani Ammouda (Levrechio), with plenty of guest houses and hotels.
