Old Town of Parikia

The streets and shops look deserted during siestas hours

The Old Town is the oldest area of Parikia, the historical center where most of the buildings and alleys have kept their original appearance. The access is only on foot and there are a few municipal parking lots for cars.

The Old Town of Parikia is the heart of the village, with plenty of small shops, cafes and restaurants. The white cobbled alleys are like labyrinths and you can spend a whole day wandering around, sometimes getting lost for a moment. One of the most significant sights of Parikia is the Frankish castle which is located in the middle of the Old Town. There is not much left from the castle, except for one tower, but the neighborhood around it is very scenic, with a nice view of the sunset and the sea.
