Neochori

The village center

The village of Neochori is located right in the middle of Pelion peninsula, equally remote from the north and south part. If you stay in Neochori, you can take a different route everyday because it has good road network with all places of the peninsula.

Neochori is populated all year round and the old stone houses are mixed with more contemporary ones. It has a few churches but everything is concentrated around the big old church of Agios Dimitriou, next to the square. There is a taverna, a pharmacy and small shops for basic products. Despite the fact that everyone passes through Neochori on the way to the south half of Pelion, few tourists drop in for a walk around the center and usually you will see only locals. At the exit of the village towards Aragalasti there is a shop for home made olives, olive oil, honey and regional herbs.

Neochori is 10 km away from Afissos and Milies, and about 12 km away from Argalasti. The area between Neochori and the east shore of the peninsula is not populated and suitable for hiking on the dirt roads and paths leading to secluded pebbly coves.
