Nea Peramos

Nea Peramos a seaside resort 18 km from Kavala, quite popular among tourists from the Balkan countries. A suburb of Athens also bears the name Nea Peramos so be careful not to confuse them.

The permanent inhabitants of the village are a little over 2000 and here you can find everything you need for a relaxing holiday, though it gets pretty busy in July and August. Nea Peramos offers a choice of hotels, shops, taverns and cafes, as well as some entertainment options for kids. On a hill in the south end of the resort you can see the ruins of an old castle with panoramic view of the area.

The beach strip of the village is narrow but long. Part of it is occupied by the sunbeds of beach cafes and tavernas, and just in front in the sea you can see the small rocky islet of Petrani. However, people who usually come to Nea Peramos are more attracted by the nearby Ammolofi beach, which is 1-2 km away from the village. The Blue Flag awarded Ammolofi is several kilometers long and consists of four connected coves, all with natural sand dunes and transparent water. Large part of the beach is maintained by well-organized beach bars where you can easily spend the whole day, and for this reason during the weekends many tourists and locals come for a one-day trip.

Around Nea Peramos there are also other beaches you can access by car, like Vrasida which is on the rocky promontory behind the castle, or the large Eleochoriou beach which has a few tavernas, beach bars and villas.

And one more fact which is unknown to visitors - near Nea Peramos there is a climbing area called Kokkina. It is a group of cliffs right by the sea and provides over 50 routes both for beginners and advanced enthusiasts.
