Nea Iraklitsa

Palm trees at the small port

Nea Iraklitsa is a seaside resort 13 km from Kavala. It is located in a bay and has a small port for yachts and fishing boats.

The older part and center of the village is located next to the port - there you will find a choice of tavernas, bakeries and cafes. This part of Nea Iraklitsa is built on a hill overlooking the sea, and the streets are narrow and steep. The new part of the village spreads along the beach and consists of hotels, villas and guesthouses by the sea, as the most distant are over 2 km away from the center.

The beach of Nea Iraklitsa is long and wide, covered with coarse sand. Beach bars are available, and some of the hotels provide sunbeds and parasols for their guests. The water quickly gets deep around the shore but it is usually calm even in windy weather. Just outside Nea Iraklitsa (behind the port) you will find two smaller beaches - Remvi and Psatha. Remvi has a beach taverna, and Psatha is maintained by a beach bar.

The picturesque old town of Kavala is within 20 minutes drive and it is suitable for evening walks.
