Mikri Vigla

Kites

Surfers paradise - that is how we can describe Mikri Vigla in short. It consists of a couple of gorgeous beaches with golden sand, blue water and perfect wind conditions for kite surfing and other water sports.

Mikri Vigla is located on a small peninsula with sand dunes and cedar trees. The north beach is called Parthena and it is the most popular in the area, set in a large bay bordering a few nameless sandy coves which allure with their blue water. Actually all surfers go there and kites in the sea can be spotted from the coastal road even before you approach Mikri Vigla. Most hotels are also concentrated around the large bay, with some seaside tavernas and a supermarket. In contrast to Parthena, the south beach Limanaki looks almost empty though long and wide. A single taverna provides limited quantity of sunbeds and parasol, and behind the beach there is a salt lake. No buildings can be seen in the area except for a few scattered hotels. The natural continuation of Limanaki is Kastraki, a place developing as a quiet resort with small hotels and villas.

Mikri Vigla is approximately 12 km away from the center of Naxos Town, accessible via the road from Plaka. Depending on the wind direction, you can always find a more sheltered beach around the peninsula, including the beaches of Aliko nature reserve (7 km to the south).
